Preparation

Power-wash the treatment area to remove loose rust chips, flakes, dirt, and grease.

Applying over paint

BLACK STAR works over existing paint. For best results, first peel or scrape back the paint to check whether rust has spread underneath.

Conversion time

Conversion typically takes 2–4 hours, with full conversion and color change taking about 24 hours. Timing varies by project and application temperature.

Surface and topcoat compatibility
